First Home Bath

Like I said before... Helo loves the water! His umbilical cord fell off when we were in the Dr.'s office at his first appointment on Monday 22 August 2011. So when we came home we decided to give him his first actual bath in his own personal spa tub (thanks to Uncle Drew and Aunt Carrie). While giving him a bath, He Fell Asleep! We had to keep waking him up. He didn't cry once, not even when we took him out to lotion him up and get him dressed. He's such a good baby! We Love You Helo!

"Daddy Time"!

When we were at the Hospital we were told that skin to skin contact was really good for the Baby. Well, since Dan has to work at least 40hrs a week... I have no doubt that Helo misses his Daddy (because I sure do)! So we came up with "Daddy Time"!
Every day Helo and Dan spend at least one hr together without mommy. Taking care of Helo does not count as "Daddy Time", it is just a time for Helo and Daddy to be together.
Here our a few picks of "Daddy Time"!

Nap Time

Nap time for Helo and Daddy... They were both exhausted. Helo is 2 days old!

First Bath At The Hospital

Helo's first bath at the hospital. Not a peep came out of him. He loved the water.
(Here's to my three relaxing showers a day when he was in the womb).

Here's To Our New Addition!

Our Baby Boy is here! Helo Wade Rowley! Born 3:16pm on the 16th August 2011. He weighed 7lbs 12.6oz. His height was 18" with a head circumference of 36cm. He really didn't want to be swaddled so we dressed him in his first outfit.
He didn't want to let go of Daddy's hand!

Ready Or Not, Here He Comes!

After the epidural Dan and I and Jilene sat and waited. About an hour after the epidural my skin was pale white, I couldn't focus my eyes (when I could open them) and an alarm kept sounding. My blood pressure was dropping. They needed to give me a shot. If you know me, I begged and pleaded to not have to take that shot. So the nurse ended up calling the anesthesiologist to tell him I didn't want it. He told the nurse he would be in to talk to me. He was in the room in less than one minute and told me that I needed to take it or matters would worsen. Still refusing to have to take another needle, he looked at me and said "I already gave it to you, have a nice delivery". My legs were numb from the epidural so I never felt the shot! They could have told me that I wouldn't have felt it to begin with, then I wouldn't have fought it. After the shot, my blood pressure returned to normal and we went back to waiting.
Jilene had to go into work around 12pm, so Dan turned on the t.v. and we just waited. Around 12:30 the Dr. broke my water (this made Dan nauseous...I told him not to look!). At 2:30pm, the nurse came into the room to check to see how dilated I was, I was 9.5cm. Dan said "good, then we only have about 10 more minutes to wait". The nurse laughed and said that it could be 10 minutes or it could be three hours. So she left. Ten minutes passed and I looked at Dan and said "I am fully dilated you need to go get the nurse". Luckily the nurse walked right in and I asked her to check me again. She said I was 10cm, so we tried a practice push. As soon as I started pushing she told me to stop so she could call the Dr. She kept telling me to stop, but I wasn't pushing... Our baby was cork-screwing his way out on his own!
The Dr. came running into the room and short of breath she asked me to push again. She said "the baby's head is half way out! Do you want to feel it?" I was really not sure if I wanted to, a part of me did, but the other part thought 'ewewew, Gross'. But my Dr knew me well, so she took my hand and placed it on the baby's head. My reaction... "Ewewew, Gross! That's just not normal"! And that's when the laughing began. Then the Dr. was laughing at Dan because he kept 'peeking' looks, unsure of whether or not he really wanted to watch. Her laughing made me laugh and after 10 pushes, at 3:16pm... Our Baby was Here!
Dan was so woozy he had to sit down, after all the support and kisses he had just given me, he deserved a rest too. Dan couldn't even cut the cord, he was so nauseous.
The nurses cleaned up our little one and handed him to his Daddy. I teared up seeing the two of them make faces at each other.

Waiting For Our Baby...

On Monday, 15 august 2011, I started to have contractions starting at 3am. The contractions were very tolerable and were about an hour or so apart. That night I knew would be Dan and mines last night with just the two of us, so we went for our last midnight food run together. We went to McDonald's, I wasn't hungry and neither was Dan, I just knew it was the last time we would ever be able to get food together at midnight again, so we went.
Then starting at 3:30am on Tuesday August 16 2011, my contractions were every 30mins apart, keeping me from sleeping. So I baked cookies and did two loads of laundry, I knew our baby was coming that day.
At 6:45 Dan's alarm went off, he hit snooze and I gave him five minutes. Due to my contractions now being every 10 minutes, I woke up Dan and told him that if he wanted to go into work that day he'd better go right then. So Dan went to work and starting at 7:20 my contractions were every 5-7 minutes apart and at 7:30 they were every 3-5 minutes. I called Dan, but he had to be at work for at least another hour. The contractions were still tolerable, but getting worse, so I called my friend, Jilene Wagner, and she took me to triage while hearing me yell "Go Away!" to every contraction (which happened to be every 2 minutes now). We arrived at 8am and I was admitted immediately at 7cm.
Dan arrived at 8:25, right before they were about to numb me for the epidural. And this is a picture of Dan and I right after the epidural was given... waiting for our baby to arrive.

The Start of Yet Another Chapter...

Dan and I found out in early December of 2010, that we were going to need to make room for an addition to our family! This was terrifying news for the two of us to say the least. We were speechless and scared and didn't want to come to the realization that there would be a baby in our arms within nine months. But we didn't have any other chose but to hope for the best. The best was not coming soon enough for the mommy to be though... I was so sick the first 3.5 months that I lost 20lbs! I couldn't even keep down water. (FYI, ice cold water feels kind of nice coming back up). When I was healthy enough to get up, Dan and I started to prepare for the baby... sitting on the couch making jokes and eating ice cream.
After a few times of that we started getting the nursery ready... Baby showers and All... Our first shower was in California in May 2011 with family and the second was in Washington in July 2011 with friends.

Sweethearts

Dan and I have SO much fun together! We avoid at all costs being apart and Love to plan new trips. When we moved up to Washington from California, we made stops along the way. Our favorite stop happened to be in Weed, Ca. We wanted souvenirs. So we decided to go with the obvious... a sweatshirt for me and a t-shirt for Dan.

The Beginning of Our Blog...

Since Dan and I are not fans of Facebook, we decided to create a family blog. Now everyone can see how our family is doing and see pictures. To sum up the last two years...
Dan and I met at institute on the 8 September 2008, we got to know each other while dating over the next three weeks and then we were engaged on the 3 October 2008! We were Sealed together for Time and All Eternity in the Redlands Temple on the 8 August 2009, this is when a new and perfect chapter of our lives began...
Since we were married Dan and I have lived in Apple Valley, Ca and Hemet, Ca and Corona, Ca and Kent, Wa and currently have moved to a different location in Kent, Wa. All these moves are due to Dan's progression in his work.
Dan and I are VERY HAPPY and the blessings that have filled our lives are more than what we could have imagined. We are truly grateful for everything that we have and we are always looking forward to the next Rowley Adventure!
